Milchhäusl

Next to the „Vitalwelt“ and the spa gardens in Schliersee lies the so called „Milchhäusl“. It has been built in 1923 by the grandfather of the current owner of the Café, Markus Sachs. It was a little hut, in the middle of a swamp area. A small beaten track led to the shack and only card players came here, in order to have a good time.

1937, after the swamp has been dried out, the hut was converted to a Café. After a few years, the daughter of the„Milchhäusl“- founder took over the business and since 2000Markus Sachs welcomes all visitors to one of the prettiest places at the riverside of lake Schliersee.

By the way, the „Milchhäusl“ has been used many times as scenery for TV- and cinematic-productions. Some scenes of German series e.g  "Ein Bayer auf Rügen" or "Zwei Köche am Herd" have been filmed  here.

The small family-run Café is a peaceful place. Here you can enjoy a typical Bavarian „Weißwurstfrühstück“ (a hearty breakfast consisting of the typical Bavarian veal sausage), sweet cooked desserts, e.g.  „Strudel, Dampfnudeln, Kaiserschmarrn” and more. At lunchtime salads and regional specialities like „Bauerngröstl, Kasspatz´n”  and snacks are being served.

Depending on the weather, the „Milchhäusl“ is opened from Monday to Sunday from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Warm food is served during 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  You can park your car right in front of the building. If you want to walk to the „Milchhäusl“, the railway station is nearby. It will take you only a few minutes to walk here.

By the way, at the „Milchhäusl“ you can also rent rowing boats, paddle boats, electric motor boats and sailing boats. If you want to book a boat trip around the lake Schliersee, how about booking a trip with the electric boat „Lisi“. Just contact Markus Sachs and his team for more information.

Ice Skating

Imagine, you and your family are on holiday and spending some time in the snow, surrounded by mountains, valleys and lakes in the Schliersee region. Besides skiing, you could also ice skate on the frozen surface of lake Schliersee and lake Spitzingsee. Before entering the icy surface, please make sure, that the hole lake is frozen and the ice thick enough to step onto it. Please notice that entering the ice occurs at your own risk.

Almost all winter, lake Spitzingsee is frozen. They reason, the lake is located at a height of 1.100 metres. From the middle/ end of December lake Schliersee is also covered with thick ice. During this time Ice skaters meet and skate a few rounds on top of the icy surface, some people even meet, in order to play Ice Hockey or curling.

Curling

Curling is not only a sport, it is a long tradition in the whole Alpine region. Even the people living in the region of Schliersee love to play curling during winter on the frozen surface of lake Schliersee and Spitzingsee.

In former times, the sticks have been made out of wood and have been enhanced with an iron ring and a wooden stalk. For the stave a 10 x 10 centimetres big wooden cube has been used.

Today the Curling sticks are made of metal and have got several outsoles and a handle. The ice rink is about 40 metres long. Four people play in one team. During the game they must try to kick out the sticks of the opposing team and to place their own sticks in a perfect position. The team which has achieved the most points wins the game.

Ice Hockey

Would you like to play Ice Hockey with your family or friends on a lake? Just take a few days off and come to the region of Schliersee - here you can have fun in the snow and on a naturally  formed ice-covered surface, too.

Before you can step onto the icy surface, the whole lake has to be frozen and the whole surface complete closed. Due to its location (height: 1.100 metres), lake Spitzingsee is iced up much earlier than lake Schliersee. The surface of lake Schliersee is mostly completely closed by the middle or end of December. Please notice that entering the ice occurs at your own risk.

Another nice place to play  Ice Hockey is the so called Oberlandstadion at the foot of the mountain Freudenberg. Please call Mr. Stefan Hornfeck (+49(0)8026 2177) in order to book the pitch. At 7.00 p.m. the icy surface is reserved for Ice Hockey Amateur Teams.

In order to play Ice Hockey you need an icy surface which is 60 metres long and 30 metres wide. Each team has five players. They try to hit the so called puck into the goal area of opposing team. The keeper job is to guard  the goal. The one hour long Ice Hockey match is divided in three 20 minute thirds and the team which has achieved the most goals wins the game.
